ASKETH ME QUESTIONS

or, when times are rough:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What program do you use?

Photoshop CS3. I’ve recently upgraded to CS5.

How do you make a gif? How do you save it? And what program do you use?

I first learned how to make gifs with this tutorial. That tutorial specifies for the VLC player, but I’ve discovered that it lags for large videos. I now use KMPLAYER to screencap my gifs. Here is a quick guide on how to screencap using KMPLAYER.

To save it, click Save for Web & Devices under the File tab.

For those who don’t want to download a player, check out this tutorial you can use with only Photoshop CS3+up. (You need Quicktime, however this never works for me so I stick with screencapping.)

What? Why doesn’t my gif work?

To let your gif work on Tumblr, make sure it is under 500kb! You can achieve that by playing around with the lossy, colors, and make sure you set it on no dither. To decrease the file size, it helps making the gif smaller and shorter. Another tip is to make the image darker. It also has to be less than 500px wide and less than 700px tall.

A new technique that has been circulating around tumblr is “freeze framing.” It’s that trippy effect you see in some gifs where some parts are moving and others aren’t. This is a handy technique to use when the background is plain or when you desperately need to lower the KB. To do this, you duplicate a layer (make sure it is visible on all the frames you want it to be visible on) and erase the part of the gif that you want to change. (I can make a visual tutorial if you still don’t get it, message me!)

What is the name of the font in your header?

Ardenwood Demo. (I sometimes have the header, I sometimes don’t.)

Can you teach me how you edit/make graphics?

Google! That’s how I learned everything. I googled tutorials, watched how other people made theirs, “studied” my idol’s graphics, etc. I have never taken a “class.” You just have to experiment and have fun :)

My favorite techinques are gradient overlay, setting things on multiply - screen - soft light - color burn, curves, gradient maps, and hue & saturation.

However, if you’re ever curious on how I made a SPECIFIC graphic - leave a link in my ask box and I will try to explain it/make a tutorial.

Who do you ship?

RonxHermione | book!HarryxGinny | RiverxDoctor | RosexTen | GwainexLife | ArthurxGwen | JeffxAnnie

How do you add a “FAQ/resources/graphics” page?

If you want the link to direct to a separate page, go to Customize>Pages>Add New Page. Use that link and add it to your navigation/description.

To get it to link to your “graphics” or a certain tag - go to your navigation and add the link <  h r e f = ” h t t p : / / u s e r n a m e . t u m b l r . c o m / t a g g e d / INSERT TAG HERE” > text < / A >

Where can I watch __________?

I’ve been collecting download links lately, I have tagged them here.

HOWEVER, this blog is the greatest thing on the planet and will have everything you need.

Regarding Doctor Who, I have written a guide here with lots of links at the end.

Follow me back?

Sorry, I don’t do follow backs! If I like your blog, I’ll follow you :)

Can you please check out my blog and tell me what you think?

Sure.
